Extra Credit project for Women’s History Online

  1. Museum Project:

It is important for students to experience firsthand the history that we are exploring this semester. Nothing replaces the real thing! Heritage House the restored home of Dr Clarke now located at the Fullerton Arboretum (on the north side of the Cal-State Fullerton Campus) is an excellent place to experience a typical Victorian woman’s home Of the late 19th century and at the same time see a doctor’s office. The questions for this project are posted on both web sites and can be uploaded to your own computer. If all the questions are answered correctly students can earn 60 extra points. Make sure that you read the directions for this project thoroughly and carefully and that you include both the questions and the answers.

Visit the Clarke House - Fullerton Arboretum - Directions This is not a field trip and no transportation is provided to the site on the CSUF campus. Heritage House the Home of Dr Clark is on the north side of the CSUF campus and can be accessed from Yorba Linda Blvd @ Associated road, 1800 Associated Road Fullerton. For a special tour by appointment 714-278-3407. The arboretum has its’ own parking lot so you do not need a permit and there is no fee to park there. Most of the pathway is gravel so wear comfortable walking shoes. The home is open for tours with a docent on Saturdays and Sundays from 2-4 pm. There is a $2.00 admission fee which helps to cover maintenance of the home. Bring a legal pad or clipboard and your assignment questions as you will want to write down as much information on the questions as possible while you are on site. If the information or artifacts that you need to find in order to answer the questions are not obvious or visible –ASK the DOCENT and she will point them out to you or give you the information that you need. By all means, ask while you there on the tour.

Guidelines for the paper: This paper is for extra credit- If you need these extra points do not put off the tour until the last minute, as unforeseen circumstances may prevent you from taking the tour. Get in as soon as possible. Formatting: paper is to be typed, double- spaced, include your name, date and class section (day and time the class meets) instructor’s name, date you took the tour and the name of the docent conducting the tour. When you write up the answers include them all numbered and in order, the questions as well as the answers. Sign the guest book.
